Three Sealing Wax Options To Satisfy The Preference Of Any Discerning Consumer
It is easy to believe that the blood red sealing wax that is so stereotypical of a historic document seal is the only option available. That, however, is not true. The fact is that the demands of modern marketing ensures that there are many more than one option to choose, even for something as seemingly straight forward as wax. Three of the most popular alternative options are colour inkpads, perfumed wax and pearlescent wax, each of which serve to enhance the effect that a seal has.
There is an artistic potential in anything to do with writing, from the high quality writing sets with textured paper to the vast range of soft leather journals that one can pick up. What this means is that the personality of the writer can emerge from the page, with the spirit of an occasion, event or memory endorsed by the very paper the words are written on and even the embellishments that can add a distinctly personal tone to the message.
The idea is no peculiar thing, at any level. Take for example the birthday party of a child, with invitations devoted to a theme that reflects the particular interest of the child, and bright colours and shapes used to promote the idea of a fun day in the offing. When it comes to the wax used in document seals, we are familiar with one colour and one main purpose. But red and solemn officiousness is not always the most accurate impression the author wishes to convey.
In the simplest sense, the red wax that so typifies the royal and city seals of yesteryear adds a splash of striking colour to the white or cream paper that a document or letter is written on. However, the seal itself can sometimes be hidden within the mash of red. By using a gold or silver inkpad, the seal emblem or figure can be highlighted, helping to create a visually more impressive seal in the process. The method is simple, with the seal stamp dipped into the ink before pressing it into the hot wax.
Perhaps more impressive is the range of pearlescent wax sticks that can be purchased, which provide a far more aesthetic effect to the wax seal. Pearlescent wax has a wavy colour effect reminiscent of mother of pearl. The colours available include such exotic options as azure blue, Indian orange and almond green. An ivory wax can be used to embellish a wedding invitation, for example. It is the profound swirl of shades that enhances the effect of the seal so greatly, allowing, at the very least, for greater expression artistically.
For romantics, perfumed wax is available to help create an aromatic impression rather than a visual one. The fragrances available range from fresh pine to lavender, with the respective waxes, of course, available in different colours. Pine, for example, comes from a wholesome green wax and lavender from a corresponding, purplish lavender colour. A rose fragrance, meanwhile, is available from a pink coloured wax.
These options can enliven a simple card, message or invitation, making it more than just communication by filling it with personality. They are particularly popular amongst those involved in arts and crafts, for their ability to embellish the simple to make the remarkable, and to add a uniqueness to even the most common.
Not everyone is satisfied with a simple notebook, and such people instead may seek out the sort of leather journals that the intrepid explorers might otherwise be associated with. The purpose of the journal is beside the point, but with soft leather in a range of colours from chocolate to orange, and features from locking clips to wrap around leather straps, every conceivable preference can be satisfied.
Equally, writing sets can reflect the preference of a letter writer, with colours and paper textures key factors in the desired personal touch.
