What exercise helps you control your fingers for playing guitar?
Im learning to play guitar but i cant get my pinky and ring finger to work together.
the simplest and best way to learn how to control your fingers better are practicing your chord exercises. Why? Because many chords require that you use your ring and pinky finger, barre chords in particular, but a simple G chord works too.
Another way is to pracitce scales and use fingering positions. Say that your index is assigned to the first fret, your middle finger to the second fret, your ring to the third and pinky to the fourth. 1234, you can also do 789 10. Good scales to practice would be your major scales, and your pentatonics.
You could also do some exercises where you do hammer-ons and pull offs with your ring and pinky. Say you play a note with your index, and then hammer on with your pinky or ring finger and practice that until you get a clear sounding note.
There are many different ways to increase strength and dexterity. Really it just takes a week or so to start getting broken in. Eventually your ring and pinky will start working just as much as your index and middle fingers. Either way the best way to practice is really just to play songs, and make sure you use your pinky to hit certain notes.
