Does Inversion Therapy Work?
I must say, I was asking this same question about a year ago when I was looking for a gravity inversion system. You see, I have been plagued with lower back pain since I was in my early twenty's. While I had never sustained any type of back injury, the pain could be excruciating at times and I would even suffer from tingling and numbness in my legs.
I started by asking my doctor about the pain many years ago. His advice was to start doing back exercises to stretch the spine. Well I did my exercises regularly, but the pain did not go away. It didn't seem to matter if I did the exercises once, twice or three times a day, the pain was still there.
The next thing I tried was a visit to the chiropractor. After several sessions of being wrenched around and bent into all kinds of strange positions, the pain was still there. Since my medical insurance only covered a percentage of the office visits, I was left with out of pocket expenses. I realized that there had to be an at home gravity inversion system that I could use whenever I needed it.
That is when I started seriously looking into inversion systems. The principal made total sense, using the gravity method to elongate your spine to relieve pressure on discs, ligaments and nerve roots.
What I found were two basic types of inversion equipment. The first type that I checked into was inversion stretching by using gravity boots. Now I was a little concerned about hanging upside down in a completely vertical position without any type of support. It was kind of scary to think about falling straight down and breaking my neck. I was also concerned about the lack of adjustability in the amount of incline.
I then moved on to researching gravity inversion tables and found this to be a better option for me. Inversion tables offer full back support and have settings to control the amount of incline, so I could work my way from the slightest angle all the way to fully vertical.
Long story short, I did inversion table comparisons and purchased an inversion table that provided all the benefits I was looking for. I now use my table about three times a week or after strenuous exercise and my back has never felt better. If you suffer from back pain and are looking for a gravity inversion system of your own, I highly recommend it. Inversion therapy has been a great benefit to me and I will never part with mine!
